🔬 Learning research, plainly by Ask Poppy

About and editorial policy

research.askpoppy.ai summarizes research on how people learn, in plain words, for parents, homeschoolers, IB and Waldorf families, self-directed learners aged 16 and over, and teachers.

Who writes it

The Ask Poppy team at Poppy Labs AS in Oslo, Norway, founded by Simon Dreyer. We make Ask Poppy, an AI tutor app, and free study tools at learn.askpoppy.ai. That is a conflict of interest on topics such as AI tutoring, so we disclose it here and on any page that mentions our app.

How summaries are written

How papers are chosen

Mostly recent work (2024–2026) on AI tutors and cognitive offloading, retrieval practice, spacing, self-explanation, metacognition, Socratic and dialogic tutoring, voice and learning, motivation and homeschooling outcomes, plus a few landmark classics for context. We prefer randomized trials, meta-analyses and large cohorts, and we include studies whatever their findings, including ones that cut against AI tutoring.
